A key element of the refurbishment was the replacement of the ageing LST radiators and guards with new Contour DeepClean models of varying lengths and sizes throughout, including bedrooms, bathrooms, toilets, communal facilities and corridors.
The DeepClean models had been specified by the building consultants as the preferred choice for a number of reasons. Firstly, All DeepClean models whether full LST radiator packages or guards only, benefit from a full length drop-down front access door that allows fast and easy access to the heat emitter inside for regular cleaning. The patented DeepClean design allows the door to drop entirely to the floor, ensuring that virtually all areas of the case interior can be reached to ensure optimum cleaning.
Secondly, all DeepClean LST and radiator guards finished in white benefit from the application of a BioCote® anti-microbial coating applied as standard inside and outside, to help minimize the spread of infections. BioCote is the World’s leading provider of anti-microbial surface protection. The patented coating technology provides effective and permanent protection to surfaces against the growth of harmful microbes.
A regular testing regime consistently shows that BioCote kills up to 99.96% of pathogens including MRSA, E.Coli and Salmonela within two hours of contact. This can significantly reduce the risk of cross contamination and infections in healthcare environments and is of particular benefit in facilities, such as hospices, dealing with the needs of patients who may have severely compromised immune systems.
All DeepClean guard models feature rounded edges and bull-nose corners, minimizing the risk of injury in case of patient falls and are finished as standard in a tough easy clean, white PPC paint. However should a project require, Contour are able to provide guards finished in virtually any RAL or BS colour specified, subject to minimum orders.
