DeepClean - LST Radiators Covers
LST radiator covers have traditionally been basic, fixed units that make access difficult and time-consuming. Internal cleaning usually requires complete disassembly if the cover is made from multiple panels, or two people to remove the cover if it’s too big for one person and, in the case of hospitals or healthcare facilities, this usually requires extensive assistance from Facilities or Estates personnel.
Ultimately, this impacts cleaning schedules and hygiene standards. A radiator guard interior that has not been cleaned combined with the convection process, work together to form the perfect conditions for the growth and distribution of potentially dangerous bacteria and particles.
Contour’s DeepClean LST radiator cover's design makes it possible for a single cleaning operative to access the internal and external surfaces of the radiator guard without any support from a Facilities or Estates department. This allows for full access for cleaning inside the radiator guard. This significantly improves cleaning efficiencies, helps reduce overheads and importantly raises hygiene standards.
The Benefits of DeepClean

Typically one traditional style radiator guard can take well over an hour to disassemble, remove, clean, reassemble and refit, including the removal and subsequent reapplication of silicon sealant between the wall and guard.
The DeepClean design makes it possible for a single cleaning operative to access every internal and external surface of the radiator guard without any support from a Facilities or Estates department.
This significantly improves cleaning efficiencies, helps reduce overheads and importantly raises hygiene standards. The DeepClean radiator guard itself has a unique, patented door design (UK Patent No. 2 410 544) with quick release locks, which allows the complete front of the radiator guard to lower and lie flat on the floor. The open hinge arrangement also permits front door removal if required.
In addition Rotarad™ rotating radiator valves can also be retrofitted to existing panel radiators to allow the emitter to fully pivot down to the floor – delivering access behind the radiator for unrivalled cleaning and maintenance.
The business case for specifying DeepClean
We’ve achieved this by developing the revolutionary DeepClean LST and anti-ligature guard range. On this basis here’s an example costing based on a hospital with 150 radiators that require a full weekly clean.
Traditional LST
2 person job involving estates personnel.
Conservatively estimate at least 30 minutes to remove 1 LST casing, clean casing internally, clean radiator, clean wall, clean floor and refit casing (wall & back of radiator cannot be cleaned). Excludes replacing silicon sealant around unit.

7 hours working day = 14 LST radiator guards cleaned per day per team.
Over 10 days required for 2 people to clean the 150 radiators in the property.
Weekly cleaning of these radiators would require 2 teams of two staff, both working at least 5 days a week to complete 1 cleaning cycle.
An annual budget of at least £63,481.60 at the National Living Wage (£8.72 ph as of 19/5/21) would be required to clean all 150 radiators on a weekly basis.
